Our Client’s Challenge

A leading mining operator in northern China was experiencing frequent failures with the main ventilation fan motor used in their deep-shaft coal mine. The high dust concentration, unstable voltage supply, and long-duty operation cycles were causing overheating and mechanical wear, forcing repeated shutdowns. These interruptions posed safety risks to underground workers and severely impacted production schedules. The client needed a robust, high-efficiency motor that could maintain stable output in hazardous, dust-heavy, and high-vibration conditions.

Our Approach And Solution

Our team conducted a thorough application and site environment assessment. Based on the fan load requirements, ventilation performance needs, and underground safety parameters, we recommended a custom explosion-proof high-voltage motor with upgraded IP66 protection, F-class insulation, and temperature monitoring sensors.

The motor was paired with a variable frequency drive (VFD) to support soft start and load matching under variable mine airflow conditions. To minimize installation downtime, we scheduled the motor replacement during a pre-approved maintenance window and provided on-site technical supervision for alignment, vibration testing, and final commissioning.

Project Results

After installation, the mine reported an immediate improvement in airflow performance and thermal stability. Over a six-month period, unplanned ventilation-related stoppages dropped by 33%, and energy savings of over 12% were recorded due to load-optimized motor operation. The motor has been operating continuously under harsh conditions without any major maintenance needs.
